[JD] Japan Box Office Report – May 7th/8th Empty
PostSubject: [JD] Japan Box Office Report – May 7th/8th   [JD] Japan Box Office Report – May 7th/8th EmptyThu May 12, 2011 2:08 am

The “Golden Week” ended last week on Thursday, many people took the necessary days off in order to make it a complete week of holidays – and therefore no more dramas had to suffer from the sudden vacation-spree of the masses. However, the weekend and Friday dramas didn’t really suffer from the first batch of holidays in the first place.

-

The only normal dramas that lost some ground were the Friday dramas “Umareru.” and “Inu wo Kau to Iu Koto“, but both their ratings were still within the ordinary fluctuations. The former managed to stop the plunge and the latter even improved by 0.8%.

-

Saturday finally got itself a drama again – it felt so lonely since the end of “Deka Wanko” last season – and with “Kokosei Restaurant“, starring TOKIO’s Matsuoka Masahiro as well as the two young stars Kamiki Ryunsokue and Kawashima Umika, it even got itself quite a delicious feast. 13.1% is looking good as well, the previous drama had a similar start, but now it has to prove that it is just as enjoyable throughout the season. “Deka Wanko” ended with an average of 13.3%, which should also be the goal of the high school restaurateurs.

-

Oh Sunday, what’s up with your “Gou“? Last week it dropped by 2.1% and this week it improved by 4.8% – that’s far from ordinary. Didn’t people know what to do on Sunday after a week full of holidays and decided to give it a try again? Well, the holiday sure had some influence on the Sunday ratings, but there were more things that helped the taiga drama: 1 – the competition was pretty weak, 2 – story is improving (yet not that exciting at the moment), 3 – EXILE’s AKIRA made his appearance (the main reason according to many netizens), 4 – a picture of Mukai Osamu as Tokugawa Hidetada was released on Friday. The latter won’t make his appearance until June 12th, but maybe his countless of fans – he is incredibly popular right now – missed that part of the announcement… Ah well, we should be happy that it’s back up above the 20%, no matter the reason.

Coincidentally “JIN 2” had the exact same rating as “Gou”, 20.7%. Normally it’s an honor for a normal drama to be on a par with a taiga drama, but this season it seems to be the opposite. Cutie-pie Ashida Mana and her drama “Marumo no Okite” improved as well. Fans of “Asuko March!” and Takei Emi will have to wait until next Sunday for their third episode. Unfortunately there is going to be yet another delay for the fourth episode as well, at least as far as we are informed.

In case the ratings aren’t available, the shows get marked with a ??.?% rating. This doesn’t mean that the ratings were too low to recorded!!

Improvements and declines will be illustrated with the use of several icons. The colors and the numbers indicate how much the ratings have changed.

An orange color means almost no change, while a red color means the ratings dropped, and a green color means the ratings improved.
