Biography
Ku Hye-Sun, born in Incheon, South Korea on November 9, 1984, is a popular South Korean actress. Her family consists of her mother, father, and one older sister. While growing up, Hye-Sun initially dreamed of becoming a singer. She eventually formed a vocal band with college friends, but due to Hye-Sun gaining popularity through the internet as a model she put those goals on hold. Hye-Sun then signed with YG Entertainment and still harbored dreams of singing. At the time, Yang Hyeon-Seok, the CEO of YG Entertainment, advised Hye-Sun to pursue acting rather than music. His advice would persuade Hye-seon to pursue acting first. She made her debut in a CF for Sambo computers and then made her television debut in the KBS horror series "Anagram." Her performance as Hye-jin in the 2005 MBC series "Nonstop 5" attracted even more attention for her. Hye-seon's major breakthrough came in early 2009 with her performance as Jeon-di Keum in KBS2's hit series "Boys Over Flowers". In 2009, Hye-Sun also branched out into other fields in the art world. On April 1st, 2009 Hye-Sun published her first illustrated novel "Tango" (탱고) centered around a 20-something young girl who goes through two separate relationships to finally mature into a woman. "Tango" would enter the best seller ranks and go on to sell over 30,000 copies in its first week of release. Hye-Sun has also branched out into the field of film directing. For the short film "The Madonna" (Yukwaehan Dowoomi), centered around the topic of assisted suicide, KuvHye-Sun took the roles of director, screen writer, editor, and music composer. "The Madonna" screened at the Pusan Asian Short Film Festival and received the Audience Award. Her short film is also entered in the 2009 Pucheon International Fantastic Film Festival. Ku Hye-Sun opened her first painting exhibition "Tango" (inspired by the paintings from her novel "Tango") from July 1st to July 7th, 2009 at the Gallery La Mer in Insa-dong, central Seoul.[1] Co-stars from "Boys Over Flowers," Min-ho Lee & Kim Jun made surprise appearances during the exhibition's opening day. Hye-seon also released her first album in October, 2009. The album is titled "Breath" and consists of 8 tracks all piano instrumentals, except "Around The Corner" (sung by singer Gummy).

Actress Goo Hye Sun has decided to pick up her director’s megaphone again, as she’s currently working on her second film, “Peach Tree“! Nam Sang Mi and Ryu Duk Hwan have been cast as the leading roles in this special feature film. One film representative confirmed, “Goo Hye Sun is holding hands with Nam Sang Mi once more for her second film, alongside Ryu Duk Hwan for the leadig male role.” Goo Hye Sun made her formal debut as a director through her movie “Magic” last year; nearly a year later, she’s returned to her director’s seat in order to tell the tale of Siamese twins. Ryu Duk Hwan will be playing one of the Siamese twins, and he’ll be competing against his brother for Nam Sang Mi’s affections. Meanwhile, Goo Hye Sun is filming for two dramas – “The Musical” (with Choi Daniel) and for the Taiwanese drama, “Absolute Boyfriend.” She’s been taking time out of her busy schedule to prepare for her upcoming movie, in addition to working as the official trailer director for the “13th International Women’s Film Festival in Seoul“. It was revealed recently that actress turned director, Goo Hye Sun, has established a new production company under her own name, “Goo Hye Sun Films”. Her agency, YG Entertainment,recently explained, “It’s not part of the company, but her own personal business that she is managing herself. It’s not widely known yet as it is still of a small scale as a production company.” When asked about the reason behind her new establishment, they replied, “She wanted to prevent any problems with the law in case her name as a producer was put on the line.” Meanwhile, Goo Hye Sun was first studying at the Seoul National University of Arts as a broadcasting major before she dropped out for her broadcast activities. The actress was recently accepted into Sungkyunkwan University as an imaging major in the Faculty of Arts. Gu Hye-sun has scored another big-name actor in her next directorial feature: Jo Seung-woo (Tazza, Sword With No Name, pictured above) has signed on to Peach Tree, which has already secured Nam Sang-mi (Life Is Beautiful). This is something of a coup (kind of?), as Jo has been serving in the military for the past two years and his comeback project has been rather anticipated. He has already returned to acting life via theater, but this will be his first screen project back.
Furthermore, Peach Tree has also secured Daniel Choi (High Kick Through the Roof) and Lee Jun-hyuk (I Am Legend), who have agreed to appear out of friendship to Gu. Daniel Choi, you may recall, is her co-star from her upcoming drama The Musical, which is trying to find a slot on a broadcast schedule for the upcoming year. I can see where being a well-known actor can be a boon in casting one’s directorial project, as you can secure bigger names than you might otherwise. For a rookie director, this is a pretty solid cast, in particular with regards to Jo, who is almost exclusively a movie star (though he does perform in stage musicals). Peach Tree is described as a “fairy-tale-like fantasy” and aims to begin shooting this spring. Perhaps it’ll do better than her previous (and debut) feature, Magic. One thing in her favor is that Gu’s directorial Achilles heel appears to be overambitiousness/ pretentiousness (rather than, say, a lack of talent or banality of vision), which is something that added experience can go a long way toward alleviating.
