PostSubject: “Dream High” valued more than “Chuno”   Fri Feb 11, 2011 5:09 pm

The hit drama “Dream High” has also become widely popular overseas.
Recently, it was revealed that KBS 2TV’s “Dream High” was exported to Japan at a higher price than “Chuno“. On February 10th, KBS Media’s Director of Overseas Business, Lee Hyo Young, stated, “The broadcasting rights to ‘Dream High’ have been sold to Japan, as well as Taiwan, Singapore, Vietnam, and Cambodia.”

He revealed, “The price of exporting ‘Dream High’ was higher than
last year’s highly popular drama, ‘Chuno’. Through ‘Dream High’,
viewers can enjoy both K-pop and drama, which is why its value has
Although there are no Hallyu stars, 2PM’s Ok Taecyeon and miss A’s Bae Suzy have been attracting much attention.

Through observing the export process of ‘Dream High’, one can clearly
sense the strength of K-pop and the potential Hallyu stardom of
Taecyeon and Suzy. It was also revealed that contracts are in the works
to export ‘Dream High’ to Thailand, the Philippines, and Malaysia.

One of the central questions to KBS’s “Dream High” has been the identity
behind top star ‘K.’ Now that the drama is nearing its completion with
only three episodes left, viewers have turned back to the figure who
first appeared in the pilot episode in an attempt to see how it will all
play out.
Viewers have left the possibility open for all of the leading casts,
including ‘Sam Dong’, ‘Hyemi’, ‘Baek Hee’, and ‘Jin Guk’, but the
speculations aren’t just limited to those four alone. Some believe that
‘K’ is actually a group as opposed to one person, while others believe
that it could be any one of them since they all possess the talents
needed to become a star.
Some netizens have recently been claiming that the identity has
already been decided, but producers dismissed the rumors by revealing
that they have yet to pick a figure. The drama, they said, did not
begin with a ‘K’ in mind, and his or her identity will depend on the development of the plot; the writer and producers decided to choose the final ‘K’ at an appropriate time.
Consequently, ‘K’ still remains anonymous to the cast themselves. A representative of Hollim spoke with OSEN on February 15th and stated, “Internally,
we’ve heard of nothing, but we do know that the writer and director are
discussing the matter. I think we won’t find out until the script for the final episode is written. All the cast members are hoping for themselves to become ‘K’ .”

The one figure that netizens seem to have reached a consensus on,
however, is ‘Sam Dong.’ Not only is he a musical prodigy with a hearing
defect, but also the character with the most dramatic story. For now,
the entire issue remains up in the air and fame is still anyone’s game.

PostSubject: Will KBS produce a second season of “Dream High”?   Sat Feb 19, 2011 10:07 pm

Could fans expect a second season of KBS’s “Dream High” next year?

The drama’s met with soaring popularity ever since it first began airing on January 3rd, and has managed to rank first in viewer ratings each week. Due to the success of the series, fans of the drama have been wondering for some time now whether a second season is in the works.

A representative of KBS’s drama team revealed, “Ever since we began our ‘School‘ series in 1999, other dramas such as ‘Boys Over Flowers‘, ‘God of Study‘, and now ‘Dream High’ have all achieved positive reviews. As a broadcast network, we’re determined to maintain the teenage drama genre, so we do have production plans for a drama that is akin to season two of ‘Dream High’ next year.”

The drama’s production company, Hollim & CJ Media, also revealed similar plans. A representative commented, “We’ve garnered successful production experience through ‘Dream High’, so our stance on producing a second season is positive. However, this is an issue that must be discussed right from the start only after ‘Dream High’ ends. Even if we create another drama similar to ‘Dream High’, we’re doubtful as to whether we will name it ‘Dream High’ again.”

I liked Hye-mi from the start, despite her surly behavior, but now I LOVE her, and totally because
of her surly ‘tude. Is it me, or did she transform into someone
awesome, right under our noses? In this episode she faces not one, but
two dilemmas: classical or pop, and Hottie No.1 vs. Hottie No.2. Sigh.
It’s tough being a girl.

Hye-mi realizes that she’s running towards Sam-dong…which means she
LUUUUURVES him! To make matters worse, he’s heading straight for her
with Jin-gook by his side, so she ducks behind a door to hide from them, because she’s adorably new to feelings.
She leans her head against the wall, groaning to herself that she’s
crazy: “What are you going to do now? Crazy, crazy, crazy.” Aw. I love
this side of Hye-mi.
The kids sign their contracts with White Entertainment, and the
teachers supervise the proceedings. Oh-hyuk clocks Principal Shi glaring
at him like the crook who stole his daughter, and he leans over to ask
Jin-man why the principal’s got laser beams aimed at him.
